Sega's Phantasy Star Online 2 was announced last year and finally shown off this week with a teaser video, but it was only in Japanese. The above video is a new bilingual version of the trailer, with English explanations of what's going on in the footage.
The content of the trailer hasn't changed, and still demonstrates the key improvements PSO2 makes over the original: randomly-generated areas, an over-the-shoulder view for gun-using characters, jumping, weather effects, "cut-in events" (mini cut-scenes as you go through levels), and more fine details. All of these make for online adventuring that looks rather thrilling, though some of that just may be creative editing of the video.
The outline of PSO2's story centers on an "invading evil" known as the Arks, who are attempting to take over the universe.PSO2 is a PC/Windows game (for now, perhaps), and Sega is planning an alpha test for the summer. There's no clear idea when the game will be formally released.
