StarCraft II’s lead producer, Chris Sigaty, has said that Blizzard DotA is still in development and it will be ready once Heart of the Swarm launches in 2012. Blizzard DotA is a modification created by the company itself and it will run alongside StarCraft II when it is released.
“We basically put it back up in the shop and did some massive overhauls to some things, which I’m not going to go into specific detail about,” said Sigaty.
The modification will be ready around the launch time of Heart of the Swarm, but whether or not you need HotS to play it — we’re yet to find out.
When questioned about the requirement of HotS for the modification, Sigaty said: “We basically put it back up in the shop and did some massive overhauls to some things, which I’m not going to go into specific detail about,”
Blizzard announced four modifications for Wings of Liberty, however three of the four have launched. DotA is the only modification which hasn’t launched because it is still under-development
Dota 2 is true sequel to the popular WarCraft III map, DotA. Dota 2 is being developed by Valve and it should launch sometime this year.
