Ubisoft's CEO, Yves Guillemot has indicated that the publisher will be releasing direct ports of its Xbox 360 and PS3 back-catalogue for Nintendo's next console, codenamed Project Café.

"The platform Nintendo is coming with is really a fantastic platform," Guillemot said in a conference call with investors following the publisher's 2010/11 financials. "We think it will be extremely successful. What we see is that we will be able to leverage a lot of the work we do for Xbox 360 and PS3 while we create games for the platform.

"So we will not have to redo completely the games that we create," he continued. "We'll be able to use all the capacity the console is giving but also use all the work we do for the other platforms."

This is the strongest indication yet that Project Café's hardware is at least on a par with Microsoft and Sony's HD consoles, something that much of the speculation surrounding the console has already suggested. Nintendo is due to reveal the system at E3 next month. Click through here for an in-depth look at what we know about the system so far.
