Okay seriously, who can even keep count of how many Sony is going to have their systems hacked? It’s getting old now, find another weak and helpless target, hackers. Luckily, this time it might not have anything to do with PSN.

It’s a pretty crap time to be a PS3 man what with Sony being completely emasculated by a bunch of wimpy hackers and PSN being down but things were just starting to look better when this happened. In the midst of Sony’s attempts to get PSN going again, it seems that So-net, Sony’s internet provider, managed to get itself hacked.

The pesky intruders entered So-net’s customer rewards site and made off with a simply epic $1225 worth of customers’ redeemable gift points. How badass is that? Seriously, if you’re gonna take the time to hack into a server this big and risk imprisonment/rape, at least make it worth your while and get some serious cash out of it. Unless you’re an anarchistic son of a bitch who just wants to throw a cream pie in Sony’s face which seems much more likely given the company’s recent bouts of humiliation and public displays of inadequacy.

“Although we can’t completely rule out the possibility that there is a connection with the PSN issue, the likelihood is low,” Keisuke Watabe, a spokesman at So-net Entertainment, told The Wall Street Journal.

Apparently this hack was different according to Sony. It may have something to do with security experts discovering that Sony Thailand’s site was being used for phishing.

How long will it be before Sony is so desperate to protect themselves that they’ll believe that the only way to secure their servers is give daily cold showers and wrap them in condoms?
